Catherine (Cathy) McLaurin began coloring, drawing and painting in her early childhood where growing up in rural south Louisiana there was plenty of time and objects of interests for creative expression. Art lessons were not available except through limited instruction in school and then adulthood took her on a completely different career path. During quiet times she always returned to palette and canvas. Many of Cathy's paintings are her attempt to communicate her zest for life, as well as her journey along life as mother, friend and observer of her world.
From Southern themes to contemporary modern pieces, most paintings contain a hidden scripture verse within the painting that relates to the art work. Cathy believes that her artistic ability is creatively encouraged by the faith she places in God.
Her art has been exhibited throughout the Gulf Coast region. She is a member of the River Region Art Association and Denham Springs Fine Arts Association.
