Elaine Champagne
Champagne
anyone? Most will answer yes after viewing the art of Elaine
Champagne, Artist of the Month for April at
River Region
Art Gallery in the Cajun Village at Sorrento. Her style is
elegant and her choice of color is alluring.
Champagne
is a self-taught artist who specializes in birds, flowers, and
landscapes. Her love of the outdoors can be seen in her oils and
watercolors. After a family relocation from Colorado to
Louisiana, her landscapes switched from snowcapped mountains to
swamps, but her love of birds and flowers has remained constant.
Recently she has painted plein aire at Houmas House with
outstanding results.
With the
encouragement of her family and friends, many of whom were
recipients of her early works, Elaine joined the River Region
Art Association in late 1999 and served on the board for two
years as secretary as well as chairperson of the Awesome Art in
Autumn contest held at Octoberfest. Her many talents as a
caterer, cake decorator, knitter, gardener, and quilter have all
contributed to her excellent display of creativity.
In addition,
Elaine feels her association with River Region and its talented
artists has helped her grow in both technique and confidence to
tackle that next painting--which just could be her masterpiece!
Elaine has been an artist of the month April 2005.
